In 1908 Emil J. Schroeder opened this grocery store in Breese.  He carried a full line of everything in the general merchandising line, including dry goods, clothing, groceries, shoes, hats, caps, gloves, shelf hardware, feed and produce.

The building was later used by the Mississippi Valley Hatchery for hatching baby chicks.
