  C13 - Weisenfeld Blacksmith

Weisenfeld Blacksmith North 2nd Street and Cherry Street (present location of Ace Hardware). George Weisenfeld came to Breese in 1922 and worked for his brother who operated a blacksmith shop at 189 North Cherry. In 1924, he bought out his brother's interest. In 1933, he went into the farm implement business, selling John Deere, New Idea & Papec Machinery. In 1947, Weisenfeld built this new building on the corner of North 2nd Street and Cherry Stree and added electrical appliances. In 1957, George's son, Louis, became a partner and continued the partnership until George’s retirement in 1975. On August 20, 1979, ground broken on Old Highway 50, east of Breese, for a new John Deere facility, that facilty is owned by Community Link.
