The Grand Theatre
The Grand Theatre - 525 North- 2nd St.
In 1914, Herman Schmidt built this theater, naming it The
Grand Theatre. For twenty years silent films were shown.
When talking pictures were invented, the business was sold
to Victor Urbane who immediately installed new equipment in
order to show the new talking pictures. In 1939, Urbane sold
his interest to Bernard Temborus who completely remodeled
the theater and changed the name of the theatre to the Avon
Theatre. On January 1, 1972, Temborus sold the business to
Allen and Jean Keith. After seven years of ownership, in
June, 1979, the Keiths sold the theatre to Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Thoele and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gramann. Clinton County
Showcase is presently located here, using the theater for
entertainment specials, musicals and variety shows.
